Criminal Minds

The hubs and I were watching Criminal Minds this afternoon and it was awesomely gruesome. This series delves into the mind of a criminal. The team profiles criminals with the evidence that they have and somehow in the last 5-10 minutes of the show manages to catch the serial killer.

Today's episode was especially gruesome. It was about a pair of brothers, one brilliant and paralyzed from the neck down and his brother, a person who's mentally challenged, living on a pig farm. The brother has the amazing ability to kidnap people, usually homeless junkies, paralyze them by breaking something at the back of their neck with a hammer, collecting some spinal fluid and while they're still aware, cut into them with a knife and saw off their limbs and body parts to feed to their pigs. Gruuuuuesommmmme!

Pigs eat everything, bones and all, so when the police finally came, they only found shoes, all 87 pairs. Nothing was left by the pigs. I'm guessing that they had a really good life while they were being fed fresh meat *shudder*

I survived a Japanese game show

My apologies, but I was channel surfing again.

So there's this trend which the Japanese started. Their game shows are really, really ruthless, embarrassing and stupid. So much so that some people are actually tickled by it. To me, the hilarious part is the availability of contestants.

Meanwhile, in the above show, created by the Americans, the contestants are Americans who audition and are flown to Tokyo to participate in the game show, which is specially set up for this particular show. Like all reality game shows the process of elimination determines the ultimate winner. Prize money, a quarter of a million dollars. The group is divided into two, they first play against each other, the winning group gets a treat and the losing group has to do a forfeit before sending a couple of their weakest 'links' for a final challenge and the loser gets eliminated. Crazy stunts. I can't see this going into more than 2 seasons.

Channel Surfing

Alright... we have heaps of channels to watch, we have both the Free-to-Air, cable plus some basic channels with the other cable TV. So usually on weekends, there's really nothing to watch on the telly (this also reads as there's nothing interesting showing on the telly for me to watch)

So I've done the unthinkable and decided to watch The Biggest Loser - Asia. I know, I'm going to burn in telly-hell. It's just that there was absolutely nothing to watch on the other channels. What I didn't do is watch the whole episode, so maybe I'll just go to the anti-purgatory place and not directly to hell. Just in case you haven't seen any of the episodes, or read anything about it, The Biggest Loser just a reality competition between a bunch of overweight adults and the winner is the person who has lost the most amount of weight at the end of the show. Each week, one person gets eliminated. I think the show runs for two to three months.

Meanwhile, it's interesting to note that all you have to do is to keep exercising. They keep showing how many kilos each of the contestant has lost since they started being on the show. People who have never exercised in their lives... or adult lives, are losing weight by the kilos, per week! And after the initial burns and aches and pains, you get used to it, and your endorphins start to kick in and the next thing you know, you're addicted to exercising.

Pain? What pain?

Re-runs

Watching American Idol season 8 at the moment. I must admit that I didn't quite follow the phenomenon while it was on air. It's just not my thing, reality telly. But I think the voters got it wrong because Adam Lambert can sing! And his on stage presence... it just wows me.
